Overview

A hopeful star of renewal, return and safe harbour. In classical Vedic texts it is counted as the 7th of the 27 Nakshatras, ruled by Jupiter with Aditi as its presiding deity.

Symbol & associations

Its symbol is the quiver of arrows, which tradition reads as an image of the star’s spirit. Its commonly listed associations are the colour lead grey, the number 3 and the gemstone yellow sapphire — things some people like to keep near them as a small reminder of their star, nothing more.

Ruling planet & deity

Punarvasu is ruled by Jupiter, which in a Vedic chart stands for your wisdom, growth and good fortune. Its presiding deity is Aditi. In classical texts the ruling planet is said to colour the general “flavour” of the star — but remember this describes a traditional category, not you personally.

Gana (temperament group)

Every Nakshatra is grouped into one of three ganas. Punarvasu belongs to the Deva gana — the “divine” temperament — traditionally seen as gentle, kind and drawn to harmony. These groupings are a broad traditional idea used when comparing charts; they are not a judgement of anyone’s character.

How to use this

Treat this page as a friendly introduction to the symbolism around Punarvasu — a way to learn the tradition, not a forecast. Two people born under the same star can live completely different lives. If something here resonates, enjoy it as one small lens; if it doesn’t, let it go.

⚠ A note of caution. This is a general, traditional description of the star — not a personal reading and not a prediction. Your own chart depends on your exact birth details, and any two people with the same star differ greatly. Please don’t treat this as fact or base real decisions on it; consult a qualified astrologer for anything that matters.
