Overview
A nurturing, emotional and protective sign — the Moon’s own. Cancer Moon is linked to home, family and deep feeling. In Vedic astrology Cancer is ruled by Moon, is a water and movable sign, and traditionally harmonises well with Scorpio and Pisces.
Element & quality
Cancer is a water sign, associated in tradition with feeling, intuition and care, and a movable sign — “movable” (chara) — tradition links it to initiative and change, starting new things. These are broad traditional categories for the sign itself, not a description of any one person.
Ruling planet
Cancer is ruled by Moon, which in a Vedic chart represents your mind, emotions and instincts. Where the Moon sits in your own chart, and the planets around it, matter far more than the sign alone — this page describes only the sign in general.
How to use this
Think of your Raasi as one broad brushstroke, useful for learning the tradition and for everyday almanac timing — not a forecast of your life. Two people with the same Moon sign can be nothing alike. Take what feels useful as a gentle lens, and leave the rest.
