Overview
A star of lasting achievement, linked to integrity and enduring effort. In classical Vedic texts it is counted as the 21st of the 27 Nakshatras, ruled by Sun with Vishwadevas as its presiding deity.
Symbol & associations
Its symbol is the elephant tusk, which tradition reads as an image of the star’s spirit. Its commonly listed associations are the colour copper, the number 1 and the gemstone ruby — things some people like to keep near them as a small reminder of their star, nothing more.
Ruling planet & deity
Uttara Ashadha is ruled by Sun, which in a Vedic chart stands for your core self, confidence and vitality. Its presiding deity is Vishwadevas. In classical texts the ruling planet is said to colour the general “flavour” of the star — but remember this describes a traditional category, not you personally.
Gana (temperament group)
Every Nakshatra is grouped into one of three ganas. Uttara Ashadha belongs to the Manushya gana — the “human” temperament — traditionally seen as balanced, practical and goal-minded. These groupings are a broad traditional idea used when comparing charts; they are not a judgement of anyone’s character.
How to use this
Treat this page as a friendly introduction to the symbolism around Uttara Ashadha — a way to learn the tradition, not a forecast. Two people born under the same star can live completely different lives. If something here resonates, enjoy it as one small lens; if it doesn’t, let it go.
